Open Bridge (n.) – - Billiards Dictionary
Open Bridge (n.) –
This is a hand set up which allows the cue to rest in the canal between the pointer finger and thumb of you hand and slide nicely toward the cue ball.

Some people prefer to use an open bridge, because the cue slides over it nice and easy.
